Dutch-born Australian artist Judith Van Heeren has spent three decades exploring her fascination with the natural world through paint. She has exhibited widely and taught extensively, sharing her skills and love for the craft. Judith is drawn to watercolour for its fluidity, delicacy, and ability to capture nature's fleeting beauty.
In this immersive one-day masterclass, you will select your perfect autumn leaf and embark on a guided study with Judith. She will introduce you to the fundamentals of watercolour painting, focusing on colour theory and mixing using a limited palette. Through hands-on demonstrations, you'll explore essential techniques such as wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry.
What You'll Learn: Observational Drawing: Sketch in pencil to capture your subject's essence. Colour Mixing: Mix colours through transparent layering with a limited palette. Brush Techniques: Explore different brushes and their applications. Watercolour Techniques: Master wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques.
Hands-On Practice: In the second half of the day, you'll work on a detailed study of a leaf, gaining confidence in capturing the subtle colours and intricate details of the natural world.
