Description

Visit Morpeth Museum before during or after ANZAC Day for this very special exhibition. With new displays, this years theme is Poppies: a Symbol of Remembrance. In Australia and other countries of the Commonwealth, the red poppy is recognized as the commemorative flower of remembrance. The flower is a reminder of those who lost their lives or suffered in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. It's a tradition that began in the early 1900s, after World War I. Read the stories of local WWI heroes like Craddick, Peacock and Maynard and view the records of all the names that appear on the Cenotaph outside the Museum. We remember. We reflect and we honour the courage and enduring spirit of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
