Aberdeen Highland Games

The annual Aberdeen Highland Games takes place on first weekend in July each year and is run in conjunction with the Scottish Australia Heritage Council's Heritage Week. During the day a number of events take place together with stalls providing food great coffee and Scottish/Celtic displays all of which represent traditional Celtic culture and recreation. The games are a gathering of pipe bands, Clans, dancers, heavy event participants, to help celebrate the Scottish/Celtic history of the Upper Hunter. There are a number of novelty events for children. Parking is free attendants will guide you in. Your tickets can be booked online. Camping is available. Visit the website for further details. Valid Wednesday to Sunday. Toilet and shower facilities. No Electricity. No vehicle movements between sun down and sun up. There is a 10-kilometre per hour speed restriction within the camp area. No outside cooking or fires. On the Sunday morning a traditional Kirkin of the tartan service is held in St Marks Anglican Church in Moray Street Aberdeen. Followed by a morning tea at the community hall in the rose garden across from the church. All welcome.
