Australia's North West

This is a region built on extremes, red pindan soil meeting the ocean in a line so sharp from the air it looks almost painted on, mangroves scattered through the shallows in between. Inland, Karijini's gorges cut just as dramatically through the same red rock, layered walls dropping into cool, clear pools. The Gibb River Road threads through the middle of it all, a legendary unsealed route for anyone properly equipped for the drive. However remote it looks on a map, the colour alone is worth the distance.
