The Gold Coast runs on two things: an unbroken stretch of patrolled beach, and a genuine cluster of major theme parks unlike anywhere else in the country. Surfers Paradise anchors the strip itself, with SkyPoint's observation deck at the top of the Southern Hemisphere's tallest residential building. Burleigh Heads keeps a slower, more local pace, a proper point break under a national park headland. Inland, the ancient Gondwana rainforest climbs into the hinterland, barely half an hour from the sand.
