Description

Take a journey through time to discover lesser-known stories of the past occupants of Riversdale. Includes entry, talk and morning tea. Riversdale, constructed in the late 1830’s is a delightful “Georgian” property with a fascinating history. Built as a Coaching Inn before becoming the family home of Edward Twynam, Surveyor General (NSW), Riversdale has much to enjoy; its juxtaposition between early inn and well-to-do home, its collection of fine colonial furniture, arts and craft collectables, intricate wood carvings and impressive panel designs by Emily Twynam. Usually presented as the much-loved home of the Twynam family, join us for a special talk to discover stories of the lesser-known residents of Riversdale. Unearth the story of coach line proprietor John Richards and his widow Ann Richards who oversaw the building of a fine home and inn and her descents who became prominent citizens of 19th century Goulburn. Talk starts at 10:30am. After, browse the house, enjoy morning tea under the shade of the large trees and take a stroll through the stunning gardens. Hosted as part of the Australian Heritage Festival celebrations.
