Shaw and Partners Iron Series Round 1

Australia’s fittest surf sports athletes will battle it out over four rounds of iron racing across at the opening round of the Shaw and Partners Iron Series, held at Wanda Beach NSW. 28 Ironmen and Women will be pushed to their limits in two race formats courses that test endurance, speed and skill in the ocean. Round 1, Race 1 - Endurosurf is the longest non-stop race featured in the Shaw and Partners Iron Series. Athletes will take on the surf break nine times before the race is won. Round 1, Race 2 - Three back-to-back Iron races, with the last six finishers in each race eliminated. Iron Athletes must stay out of the red zone if they want to claim as many points as possible in the Eliminator Rounds. The last placed Iron athletes will risk their place in the series and may find themselves knocked out of the entire Shaw and Partners Iron Series. After Round One's 28 Ironmen and Women have pushed through the gruelling two Iron formats, only the top 22 Iron Athletes will proceed heading into Round 2.
