Description

Outer Space: Stromlo to the Stars celebrates the 100-year anniversary of Mount Stromlo Observatory, bringing to life the groundbreaking discoveries and hidden history of this remarkable institution. Immersive digital interactives, unique objects, and oral histories take visitors on a journey from the observatory's modest beginnings to international prominence. Discover the role Mount Stromlo Observatory played during World War II, designing, producing and testing precision optical munitions for the war effort; challenge yourself on ‘Guide Star’ – a laser junk game developed specially for the exhibition; and be inspired by the Observatory’s latest collaborative astrophysical projects, including what will be the world’s largest telescope. Explore First Nations astronomy and discover the ongoing connection between First Nations people and the cosmos in a special installation ‘Djara’. What wonders will you discover in Outer Space: Stromlo to the Stars?
