Whitlam Prime Ministerial Home Heritage Tour

The Whitlam Institute is pleased to open the Whitlam Prime Ministerial Home at 32 Albert Street, Cabramatta for public tours. This 30-minute tour will include a talk from an expert guide followed by a self-guided walk through the Whitlam Prime Ministerial Home. Bookings are essential. Gough Whitlam's home was intrinsically linked to his political life. As the Member of the Australian Parliament for Werriwa from 1952 to 1978, the home served as the backdrop to his service – constituents, seen approaching through the kitchen window as they walked up the driveway, were invited into the living or dining rooms to talk about their matters of concern. The home was a frequent host to political functions, celebrations of electoral victories, and sombre reflections on losses. The Whitlam Institute and Western Sydney University have been fortunate to get the opportunity to preserve and restore the home, and we are proud to be able to share this vital part of our national heritage with the public.
