Celebration of 25 years at Cooneana Heritage Centre

There has been ongoing development of the site since the Ipswich Historical Society gained access to Cooneana in the year 2000 and the Society has also grown significantly in this time. There will be information and photos to demonstrate the ways in which Council and the Society have worked together to create a beautiful site that is devoted to the preservation of Ipswich history and the traditional skills that contributed so much to the city. This will also be the official unveiling of Banjo, a new display put together by the very talented Mr Peter (Ned) Kelly. Banjo is a horse constructed of metal rods - the size of a real horse of about 16 hands. Naturally, they will be asking Mr Kelly to tell everyone why Banjo has his name - a very interesting family story. They will be cutting a cake that visitors will be able to share in a special morning tea. Ipswich Historical Society is proud of the achievements attained over the last quarter century and invites the community to come along and celebrate.
