Rich, clear, detailed and warm, connect intimately with the sound of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in the stunning acoustic of Elder Hall. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxed lunchtime concert. This year, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra explores popular works by British composer Vaughan Williams. The program for Matinée Series 1 – Soar is charming and warm. The Lark Ascending holds a special place in the hearts of its listeners, with its iconic violin introduction that flutters like a bird carried on the breeze. Let the ASO’s Concertmaster Kate Suthers take you to the clouds above the English countryside with Vaughan Williams’ masterwork. Grieg’s warm-spirited Holberg Suite carries the lightness of a dance, while the deep, resonant lower strings of Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony reflect the composer’s profound desire for peace.
