Barcoo Area

Three tiny towns, and the exact spot where two rivers become one

Just above Jundah, the Thomson and Barcoo Rivers meet at Barcoo Junction to form Cooper Creek. Jundah keeps the shire's history in its 1899 building, a mural painted by local schoolchildren layered over its own quiet museum. Further out, Stonehenge and Windorah hold their own scattered heritage, ruins standing much as they were left. With barely a hundred people calling Jundah home, this is Queensland's outback at its quietest.
