Kangaroo Island holds more kangaroos, koalas and sea lions than it does residents, wild country that feels genuinely untouched the moment you step off the ferry. Walk among a colony of wild Australian sea lions at Seal Bay, guided close enough to watch them without disturbing a thing. Flinders Chase National Park holds the island's strangest rock formations, Remarkable Rocks balanced on a headland and Admirals Arch carved clean through by the sea. Much of this landscape burned in the 2019 bushfires and has spent the years since quietly growing back.
