Flinders Ranges and Outback

Some landscapes make silence feel like a physical thing, and this is one of them. Ikara, widely known as Wilpena Pound, rises like a natural fortress at the heart of the ranges, a vast amphitheatre enclosing its own hidden valley. Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary holds some of the darkest skies in the state further north, rugged 4WD tracks leading to genuine stargazing. This is Adnyamathanha Country, its rock art and stories older than the mountains themselves.
