The most easterly point on the Australian mainland, and everything west of it
Byron's lighthouse marks the exact spot where mainland Australia runs out, whales passing close enough below the headland to watch most winters. Walk the full headland loop, then work through the beaches: Wategos for the gentle wrap of the bay, The Pass for a proper surf, Main Beach for everything in between. The waters offshore form one of the richest marine parks on this coast. Some places end where the road runs out. This one just keeps going.
