The trailhead for one of Adelaide's most popular hikes
Not many suburbs double as a hiking gateway, but climb out of Burnside's streets and the walking track to Mount Lofty begins almost without warning. Mount Osmond offers a gentler version of the same reward nearby, city views without quite as much climbing required. Beaumont House keeps the suburb's colonial history intact, one of the older grand homes still standing from Adelaide's earliest decades. Locals have quietly known about this way into the hills for years.
