A whole town built on top of a dormant volcano
Every street here sits on ground shaped by the same eruption, long extinct but never quite forgotten. Blue Lake fills one of the resulting craters, turning brilliant sapphire each November before fading back to grey by autumn. The Cave Garden sits right in the CBD, a sinkhole ringed by heritage buildings and gardens rather than tucked away out of sight. This town has always had more going on beneath the surface than above it.
