A horse-drawn tram, still the way most people reach the island
Not many towns still move visitors around by horse. Victor Harbor does, a tram-drawn crossing over the causeway to Granite Island that's run for well over a century. Whales, dolphins and seals all frequent the bay here, close enough to the coast some winters to watch without a boat at all. Hike the clifftops beyond town for sweeping views back over the bay and out to the island. This town has always kept one foot in the water and one on the sand.
