Most people driving through this council only ever see the Clare Valley side. Riverton and Saddleworth hold the Gilbert Valley's own character further east, heritage streetscapes and farmland well away from the vineyard crowds. Marrabel puts on one of the state's biggest rodeos each year, utes and campfires filling a town that's quiet the rest of the time. This half of the council rarely gets the attention the wine country does, and that's part of its charm
