The Big Banana has marked this stretch of coast since 1964, Australia's original big roadside thing, worth a photo on the way through. What keeps people longer is everything around it: Muttonbird Island's short causeway walk to nesting seabirds, and the Solitary Islands Marine Park just offshore, where tropical and southern currents meet. Diggers Beach waits quietly when the main strip feels busy. The banana gets the photo. The rest of the coast gets the time.
