District Council of Barunga West

Barunga West sits on the sheltered eastern side of Yorke Peninsula's gulf coast, calm water and long jetties standing in contrast to the wilder ocean beaches further south. Port Broughton anchors the district with its own working fishing fleet, crab and prawn boats heading out into some of the most productive water on the gulf. Fisherman Bay keeps its own quirky character further along the coast, a scattered settlement of shacks built out over the tidal flats. This stretch of coast has always favoured the quiet side of things.
