Great Ocean Road

This road never settles on one landscape for long, sheer coastal cliffs giving way to ancient rainforest just a short drive inland at almost every turn. Great Otway National Park holds the greenest stretch of it, forest climbing steeply enough to feel like a different climate entirely from the cliffs below. Erskine Falls and Triplet Falls both reward a short walk with genuine rainforest drama, water dropping through ferns and towering trees. Cape Otway Lighthouse marks where the forest finally meets the sea again, one of the oldest surviving lighthouses on the mainland.
