Where cattlemen once rode, and visitors still do
This region built its identity on horseback long before tourism arrived, cattlemen driving stock across the Bogong High Plains in a tradition that still shapes the area today. Horse riding treks now follow those same old mustering trails, the same folklore that inspired The Man from Snowy River still alive in the saddle. Bright anchors the region as its main hub, autumn colour and paragliding drawing visitors well beyond ski season. Some trails were never really meant to be rushed.
