Qantas was founded nearby in 1920 and built much of its early story here, and the Founders Museum holds a retired 747 and 707 you can walk straight through. The Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame tells the deeper story of the people who built the outback. Cruise the Thomson River at sunset, when the whole sky turns the same colour as the plains. Most people plan a night. Almost everyone stays for two.
