Lord Howe Area

This whole island is what's left after millions of years of erosion wore a much larger volcano down to its core, twin peaks and a lagoon marking where the crater once stood. The Lagoon itself offers the calmest water on the island, shallow and clear enough for snorkelling without needing to brave open surf. Kayak across it at your own pace, or simply drift and watch the coral change colour beneath you. UNESCO listed the whole island for exactly this kind of rarity, on land and in the water alike.
