Mackay Area

Cape Hillsborough's beach kangaroos get most of the attention, and they earn it, but the coast around Mackay keeps going well past the postcard shot. Bluewater Lagoon cools the whole town down with tiered swimming pools right in the CBD, and the Regional Botanic Gardens spread out lush and quiet a short drive from the centre. Mackay Marina Village makes an easy stop for a wander among the boats, and Sarina and Seaforth hold their own smaller, quieter beach-town charm further south. Whatever's already on the itinerary, there's always one more stretch of coast worth the detour.
