A single mine holding some of the world's largest deposits of four different metals
This town exists entirely because of what's underneath it. Olympic Dam holds copper, uranium, gold and silver all together in one place, among the largest ore bodies on Earth. Roxby Downs itself was purpose-built in the 1980s to service the mine, a genuinely modern planned town in the middle of the outback. The surrounding desert stretches out flat and red in every direction
