Oberon

Perched over 1,100 metres up, Oberon is colder, crisper and more changeable than almost anywhere in the state, and that's precisely the appeal. Autumn turns the tree-lined streets amber and fills the pine forests with mushroom foragers. Winter brings frosts, truffle hunts and, some years, real snow. Spring is all blossom and cool-climate gardens, and summer means hiking the wild sandstone walls of Kanangra-Boyd, with Jenolan Caves waiting down the mountain road.
