Shellharbour Area

A surf beach backed by paddocks, and not a building in sight

Farmland runs straight to a cliff edge here, a curve of surf waiting below it, and nobody's ever been allowed to build so much as a kiosk in between. Killalea, known simply as The Farm, is the reason why. The old village keeps a small working harbour and marina, worth wandering before Bass Point Reserve, where the diving at Bushrangers Bay is genuinely excellent. Barrack Point has its own lighthouse and blowhole, smaller than Kiama's but with none of the crowds.
