In the hills of the Great South East, this quiet farming district holds one of the oldest living things in the country: Bunya Pines have grown here for millions of years, with a handful of ancient specimens still standing as proof. South Burnett's newer story runs on wine, vineyards rolling through hills most visitors never expect. Ride the region's own rail trail, or spend a day at one of the recreational dams, fishing and watersports both on offer.
