Border country, named by the people who knew it best

Tatiara sits right on the Victorian border, a farming district whose name comes from a Ngarkat word meaning good country, a description the wheat and sheep paddocks still live up to today. Bordertown anchors the district as its main town, home to a life-sized statue of Gunsynd, one of Australia's most famous racehorses, raised here before his career made him a household name. The district's flat, fertile land stretches in every direction, working farms rather than a tourist strip.
