Yalata Community

Yalata is Anangu land, managed and cared for by the community on its own terms after generations of connection to this coast. Their history includes displacement from traditional lands during British nuclear testing at Maralinga in the 1950s and 60s, a history the community carries and tells in its own way. Yalata now oversees access to the Head of Bight, one of the best land-based whale watching points in the country. Visiting respectfully means engaging through the community's own visitor arrangements.
