Description

Located in the centre of Cooma in Centennial Park, the Cooma-Monaro Time Walk was a community project for the Bicentennial Year of 1988. Colour and Design students of Cooma TAFE College created designs based on historical information supplied by Cooma-Monaro Historical Society. Many businesses, community groups and individuals assisted in the project. The events represented in the mosaics include Monaro Aboriginals, the discovery of the Monaro by European settlers, the early squatters, law and order, Mount Kosciuszko, inns and accommodation, religion, health services, mining, business, transport, Nimmitabel, education, bushrangers, building, forestry, sheep, wool, cattle, snow sports, Dalgety-Berridale, mountain horses, Wragg's observatory, pastoral and agricultural pursuits, trout fishing, Adaminaby, Jindabyne, local government, the Snowy River March, mountain lifestyle, communications, Michelago/Bredbo, armed services, tourism, Kosciuszko National Park, the Snowy Mountains Scheme, pioneer women and other service organisations.
