Pointer Gap lookout
With spectacular sweeping views along NSW South Coast, Pointer Gap lookout is perched atop the escarpment in the eastern region of Morton National Park, near Yatte Yattah on Princes Highway. Offering a pretty picnic area with visual delights including birdwatching and wildflowers, it’s an ideal stopover on a driving tour of the region any time of year.
A short and easy walk leads to the lookout where you’ll catch the fresh coastal breezes as you gaze from Sussex Inlet to Bawley Point, near Milton. The surrounding heathland erupts with vibrant blooms in spring. It’s a great spot to see both the pink and white flowering tea tree as well as pink boronia; known as the native rose.
The flowers attract abundant birdlife, so bring your binoculars for a chance to see nectar-loving honeyeaters. Enjoy a leisurely lunch or barbecue at the tables provided, while you take in the sights.
