Description

Named in honour of a labourer from the nearby Warragamba Dam, Jack Evans walking track leads through picturesque rock formations. Located in the southern reaches of Blue Mountains National Park, it’s a perfect hike for experienced walkers and keen nature photographers. Passing towering angophoras and grass trees, the hard track descends steeply into the gorge. Be sure to look for the rare ground orchids when you stop to admire the shifting light and shadows across the rock walls. Arriving at Erskine Creek, deep swimming holes provide a refreshing dip in summer. You might be lucky to glimpse a platypus in the waterways that form part of the Blue Labyrinth; an enigmatic maze of canyons and gorges. Unpack a picnic and soak up the remote beauty of this unspoilt region, so close to civilisation. Challenge yourself with some rock-hopping along the creek before retracing your steps. Visit Glenbrook – Nepean lookout before leaving for magnificent views of Fairlight Gorge. Remember to take your binoculars if you want to birdwatch.
