Walk through myrtle beech rainforest to the Ada Tree, a giant mountain ash that's one of Victoria's largest trees. It is also one of the largest known flowering trees in the world. Estimated to be at least 300 years old, it is about 76 metres tall with a circumference of 15 metres. Complete your day out in the forest with a stop at the Ada Tree picnic area where you'll find picnic tables, a shelter and toilet facilities. Listen out for the call of the lyrebirds that frequent the area. The Ada Tree Walk features a boardwalk for all abilities access. Access to the boardwalk is by a gated forest road (Federal Road) leading from the main car park. Travel 1.8km to a smaller carpark about 10m from the boardwalk. To access this road, collect a key from the Powelltown Post Office at 1657 Little Yarra Road, Powelltown. Location: Yarra State Forest Distance: 3.2km return Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes Grade: Level 2 - No experience required. The track is hardened gravel or compacted surface and may have a gentle hill section/s and some steps. Start and finish: Ada Tree picnic area on Ada River Road.
