Outer Barcoo Interpretation Centre

12 Saint Mary Street, Isisford, Queensland, Australia, 4731 Arrow
The Outer Barcoo Interpretive Centre is a museum that takes visitors on a journey through the evolution of nature from 100 million years ago to the present. The main attraction is a life-sized replica of Isisfordia Duncani, an ancient crocodilian ancestor from around 98 million years ago. The museum also features the Bulldog fish, discovered in the region and dating back 100 million years, alongside displays of local fauna, flora, reptiles, birds, and fossils. Exhibits explore the formation of the Great Artesian Basin and the history of the Isisford area. An audio-visual presentation highlights life in Isisford since settlement, depicting the town as ‘the middle of everywhere’. The building includes a 60-seat theatrette, cafeteria, and displays showcasing local arts and crafts, making it an enriching stop with free entry.
