Description

Discover the social history of Greenough set up in the spacious rooms of what was once the largest house in this area, built between 1862 to 1880 for John and Elizabeth Maley. Wander through Elizabeth's Garden and the Community Vegetable Garden. View the historic trees including what could be Australia's oldest leaning gum tree. The museum aims to provide an interpretation of the life of the Greenough Flats from Aboriginal times to today. This is no longer your traditional house museum. Greenough Museum fact sheets are also available in German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Japanese. Guided group tours are available on request. For group booking discounts please phone the Greenough Museum directly. The Greenough Museum and Gardens is continually evolving to meet the needs of visitors and the local community. They invite you to become part of the change. The Greenough Museum and Gardens are located 405 kilometres north of Perth on the Brand Highway and just 19 kilometres south of Geraldton. This area of the Midwest is known as the Front Greenough Flats and is a unique landscape (look out for the famous leaning trees) encapsulating its history and rural activities.
