Once a thriving estate, and one of Australia's finest examples of a pioneer farm, it was built by Thomas Archer and maintained by the hands of assigned convicts who worked alongside free settlers. Many of these convicts chose to stay on at Woolmers even after gaining their freedom. The collection of original buildings at Woolmers Estate includes family accommodation, workers' cottages, a former chapel, blacksmith's shop, stables, bakehouse, pump house and gardener's cottage.
