Old School Winery and Meadery

At The Old School Winery and Meadery, you’ll taste the romance of the past. This small family business produces handcrafted grape wines and honey meads. Mead (honey wine) has a rich history, reaching beyond medieval times to the Vikings and ancient Celts. Their meads combine tradition with innovation, as they use time-honoured wine-making techniques to create subtle, complex meads that reflect the flavours of the Riverina region's renowned honeys. They also have a working pottery studio next to the cellar door, where the artists in their family create beautiful handcrafted stoneware pottery and ceramic jewellery. The Old School Winery is located in Womboota, a tiny historic village set in the wide plains country of the south-west Riverina, just 31 kilometres from Moama and the Murray River. The cellar door and pottery are usually open daily (except Mondays). Tea and plunger coffee are available, or you’re welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the cellar-door garden. With its relaxed, rustic country-style character, the garden also makes a great location for wedding photos - please call/email to discuss. The Old School Winery is a pet-friendly venue, too, so feel free to bring your four-legged friends (on leash).
