Baratto Wines

Baratto wines is a family owned and operated boutique vineyard, winery and cellar door practising minimal intervention techniques both in the vineyard and winery. Their wines are available by the glass, bottle or 15 litre cask! The 15 litre cask is the same wine they use in their bottled range, made with grapes from their pesticide free vineyard. They don't use sterilants or yeast inhibitors in their wines and only minimal sulphur. Not only is the 15 litre cask a cost effective form of packaging but also has a far less impact on the environment than glass. 91 percent less packaging materials, 79 percent less greenhouse gas emissions and 77 percent less total energy consumed during production than glass bottles. (Scholle website) They welcome you to visit their cellar door, taste their range of wines while chatting with the winemaker, Peter, or relax with a glass on the decking while enjoying the views of the vineyard and scenic hill. They also have on display and for sale artworks from local artists and local preserved goods. As they are a working vineyard and winery they don't have regular opening hours. They welcome drop-ins or call ahead to avoid disappointment.
