Description

A highlights reel of evocative landscapes, enchanting wildlife and exhilarating adventure awaits in the stunning 200-kilometre drive from Perth to the Pinnacles. Time your trip with wildflower season (July to October) to witness the scenery whizz past in a kaleidoscope of colour. From Perth, Yanchep National Park is your first stop. Wildlife abounds, so don’t forget to look up - you might spot koalas dozing among the gum trees. Keep an eye out for Western Grey kangaroos as you hike the walking trails, or take a guided tour of Crystal Cave. This is the place to experience the Aboriginal Noongar culture – Yanchep’s pristine bushland is revived and restored. Next, zip up to Cervantes - your coastal playground, where fresh Western Rock lobster feasts and magical sunsets nourish the soul. Swim, snorkel or simply chill. Go fishing, boating or diving. Cervantes white sand beaches and reefs are the perfect backdrop to choose your own adventure. From Cervantes, it’s a short drive to Nambung National Park and one of Australia’s most fascinating landscapes, the Pinnacles. Formed over millions of years, this desert moonscape is surreal and stunning, almost otherworldly. Dawn or dusk – when the eerie lunarscape of ancient limestone spires jutting from ochre sands glows ethereally – is an excellent time to visit. The laid-back coastal vibe of Lancelin makes this town a must-stop as you loop back for the return drive to Perth. Gazing out to the Indian Ocean, there, life’s a beach. Spot sea lions sunning on rocks, relax on pure white sands, splash in translucent waters and dive or snorkel the coral reef. More of a thrill-seeker? Lancelin is home to some gnarly sand dunes. Grab a board and hit those slopes for an unforgettable end to your adventure.
