Description

Ignite your wanderlust with a five-day four-wheel-drive adventure covering 3,169 kilometres through the magnificent outback to the captivating Ningaloo coastline. This is the true outback: rugged, remote and totally awe-inspiring. Along the way, pass sheep stations, historic homesteads and coastal towns in a land of hypnotic horizons, celestial beauty and endless sunshine. Watch windsurfers tackle white-tipped waves on the coastal route to the wind-sports mecca of Geraldton before embarking on the legendary Wool Wagon Pathway. Follow the wide-open road and you’ll soon arrive in Mullewa. The heart of wildflower country, this laidback town is one of the few places where the colourful, circular wreath flower can be found, and is best experienced between June and September when the area is in full bloom. If you’re yearning for wide-open spaces and warm outback hospitality, you’ll find it at Wooleen Station, in the heart of the Murchison region. Pour a glass of wine, perch on a granite rock, or sit around the campfire and drink in a billion twinkling stars. The road to Gascoyne Junction delivers you to the remarkable cliffs and rugged canyons of Kennedy Range National Park, millions of years in the making. For more ancient geological wonders, take an alternative route to gaze at the world’s largest monolith, the mighty Mount Augustus. Arrive in the coastal playground of Exmouth – the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef – and swap red soil for brilliant aquamarine waters. Snorkel among colourful coral and glide alongside mighty whale sharks for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Take the Coral Coast Highway back to Perth, passing through the wildflower wilderness of Shark Bay and Kalbarri.
