Description

All the romance of the open road beckons in this "best of" collection of the South West – a journey of waves, wine and wilderness across 8 days and 1,187 kilometres. Escape the ordinary to a region renowned for its diverse experiences and wondrous settings. Set off from buzzing Perth to Bunbury, where every day feels like Sunday and friendly dolphins smile at you at the shore. It’s a short journey from there to Busselton to stroll the iconic, 1,800 metre long jetty over calm waters. Dunsborough, perched on the banks of the gorgeous, turquoise-tinged Geographe Bay, provides rest and relaxation, as well as whale-watching from September to December when the wildflowers are also in magical bloom. Margaret River is a surf and wine lover’s paradise. Revered equally for its epic breaks as for its premium wines, it’s a place to stop and sniff the sea air while indulging in life’s simple pleasures - good food, spellbinding scenery and barefoot luxury. From June to August, tens of thousands of whales drift past Augusta’s rugged coastline - a whale-watching tour provides the best opportunity to witness these majestic mammals. Grab a gourmet lunch in the cool climate wine region of Pemberton before stopping in at Walpole and the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk. It’s an awe-inspiring stroll through 400 year old tingle canopy on a walkway suspended 40 metres above the forest floor. Denmark is a sun-kissed gem - brilliant beaches and blue-green swimming pools, cellar doors set among rolling hills and a charming township. Skirt the wild coastline of Torndirrup National Park – where lofty cliffs provide more whale spotting opportunities - towards Albany’s rich legacy. Western Australia's first European settlement, this former whaling town is synonymous with the Anzac story.
