Depot Hill

Depot Hill Road, Lockier, Western Australia, Australia, 6522 Arrow
Depot Hill is a wonderful spot for an abundance of wildflowers, and native animals and a picnic on the banks of the river under the gum trees. Just five minutes from Mingenew, the very camera-friendly area offers easy access to a multitude of wildflower species or, for those of you who enjoy a good walk, you can carry on along the bush track to discover the historic World War II (WWII) Army Rifle Range. This was a significant training area for the army during WWII. Follow the walking trail up through the reserve and you will find one remaining bunker. The other bunkers were dismantled and the stone was used in the township for the construction of septic systems. The wildflowers can be stunning and varied through this area - orchids thrive! Remember to visit the Mingenew Visitor Centre to view pictures of the wildflowers and identify all of the wonderful species on display. Tourists are advised to check for alerts and road/park closures before commencing their travel on www.emergency.wa.gov.au and https://alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au
