Enjoy the Maritime Museum and family-friendly tours on board the HMAS Whyalla WWII warship, built in 1941 at the Whyalla Shipyards. Fun for the young and young at heart. Explore the gardens and museum galleries. See the permanent exhibitions in the museum: BHP Shipbuilding in Whyalla - BHP started building ships in Whyalla in 1939 until 1978 and the shipyards produced not just the very first warships ever built in South Australia but also some of the largest ships in Southern Hemisphere at that time. World War Two Gallery, Northern Spencer Gulf Gallery with kiosk with all the information about cuttlefish in Whyalla and Singing to the Sharks Aboriginal exhibition. Try your luck looking for the many additions to the model railway track in the must-see HO Gauge model railway display (one of the largest tracks in the Southern Hemisphere!)
