Springlawn Nature Walk
Discover Springlawn Nature Walk
Springlawn Nature Walk is a walk in Narawntapu National Park.
2 hours circuit, 4.8 km circuit. Grade 2.
Beginning from the Springlawn Visitor Centre, this easy walk takes you around the lagoon, through open grasslands and coastal vegetation, to the lagoon bird hide, before returning along forested boardwalks and dunes.
The open grasslands section of the track is unmarked as you follow along the southern side of the lagoon. An ideal place to spot a Forester kangaroo at dusk.
The bird hide is in the paperbark forest at the lagoon and offers an ideal spot for birdwatching and photography. The beaches nearby provide a contrasting habitat for pademelons, Bennetts wallabies and a variety of coastal birds including oystercatchers, gulls and terns. Overhead, you may see brown falcons, swamp harriers or white-bellied sea eagles searching for prey.
Toilets, picnic and barbeque facilities are available at the start of the walk at the Springlawn Visitor Centre and campsite. These facilities are all accessible to wheelchair users, but the walk is not accessible as some sections are sand dunes.
Please refer to the Parks and Wildlife Service Tasmania website (parks.tas.gov.au) for up-to-date information about this walk, alerts, closures, safe walking guidelines, leave no trace principles and National Park entry fees where applicable.
