Kinbombi Falls

Tucked away in the heart of Gympie's western cattle country lies Kinbombi Falls, 10 minutes outside the quaint township of Goomeri. Accessible by following the Wide Bay Highway east from Goomeri, look for the signs along Kinbombi Road and you’ll find the rugged, yet peaceful, location offering different walking options and a 72-hour free camp spot. For those looking for a little adventure, there are short walks to explore including a ridge walk, two lookout points or tackling the 225-stair descent down to the base of Kimbomi Falls. Some walking experience and the ability to get up and down steep steps are required. If you’re lucky and walk quietly, a stroll along the rocky escarpments can reward hikers with sightings of monitor lizards, koalas, rock wallabies and birdlife. The falls and swimming holes are dependent on substantial rainfall and may become stagnant and cease to flow during dry periods. The campground remains open during all periods and offers an oasis under the canopy of the bushland offering flushing toilets but limited other amenities. The nearest effluent dump point is at Kilkivan (Weier Oval).
