Beechworth History and Heritage Society is collaborating again with community organisations to Dig into Beechworth with events forming part of the National Trusts' Australian Heritage Festival. '60 minutes of bliss' Saturday, 5 April. Hear the chapel choristers of Queen's College from The University of Melbourne sing a year at Queen's in Beechworth's historic Anglican Christ Church, performing works by Amy Beach, Jonathan Dove, Orlando Gibbons, James Macmillan, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Arthur Sullivan and The Beatles. Directed by Will Fellows MLitt. 'Negative. Positive.' Saturday, 12 April. Explore with hoteliers Ross and Lorraine Lucas the extraordinary collection of historic Beechworth photographs in The Hotel Nicholas. 'Treestoreys' Saturday, 26 April 2025 & 10 May. Join a guided walk through Beechworth's historic treescape with stories of botany and science and learn how our exceptional tree-lined streets and colonial-era parks developed. Wear: walking shoes and bring hat and water. Dogs on leads welcome. 'Democracy! Digging for the vote.' Saturday, 3 May. What drove the Ovens goldfield miners and their campaign for the right to vote 18 months ahead of the Eureka Rebellion? 'Autumn afternoon' . Songs of a century's turn. Voice and keyboard. Soprano Colleen Arnott and pianist and organist Sandra Williams perform works by Pitt-Rivers and Bishop for Melba, songs by Grainger, Gershwin and Vine, and compositions by Coleridge-Taylor, Ketelbey and Beach.
