The beach is approximately 50-150 metres long depending on the tide with a rocky foreshore at both the northern and southern end of the beach. At high tide the beach is 150 metres wide, however at low tide the beach expands out due to the sand flats built over the years by tidal currents, you can often walk out 200-300 metres seaward. It is also the home of the Elliott Heads Surf Life Saving Club.
